Good attendance is one of the most important factors in the academic success of your child. Please have your child at school every day possible.

Regular attendance is a prerequisite to proper educational advancement. Irregular attendance can lead to inferior work or even failure. The law requiring children to attend school states that it is the duty of the parent/guardian to notify the school of the cause of any absence of a school-age child. If a child is absent without a valid excuse more than four days within a four-week period, the school can turn the parent/guardian name over to the District Attorney for prosecution. This law is for the benefit of the students. Students must be in attendance for at least two hours in the morning or afternoon to be recorded as present for a half day. 

TPS Board Policy 2206, Admission of District Transfer Students, states that students must follow approved board policy for attendance. Students attending elementary or secondary schools are required to be in attendance a minimum of ninety percent of the instructional time. Students not in compliance with the attendance policy may have their transfer revoked at the end of the school year. All excused and unexcused absences will be taken into consideration in calculating a student’s attendance.

If a student must miss school, the parent/guardian must call the school between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and give the reason why the student was absent. The Carver Middle School phone number is 918-925-1420 or 918-925-1422. Absences must be reported daily to the office by a phone call or note from the student’s parent/guardian. Doctor and/or dentist notes must be turned in to the office within 48 hours of the appointment to be excused.

Free and reduced meal application now available!

Students who qualify through the Free/Reduced Price Meal application may be eligible for:

• Daily breakfast and lunch meals free of charge or at a discounted cost;
• Discounted or waived college application fees;
• Discounted or waived registration fees for the SAT/ACT;
• Discounted internet bill; and
• Discounted or waived fees for some sports in and out of school.

Completed Free/Reduced Price Meal applications can also help schools qualify for additional funding from the federal government to help support teaching and learning.

Arrival/Departure

Supervision of students begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Students are not to be dropped off at school before 8:00 a.m. and are to be picked up by 4:00 p.m. Students attending after school activities are supervised until the conclusion of the activity or event.

Early pick up 

• Make sure your school has the accurate list of persons approved for picking up your child from school.
• Adults must present their photo ID pick up a student early.

Enrollment is open until August 1.

When do I need to enroll my child?

• If your child is going to be 4 years old on or before September 1
• If your child is new to the district
• If you have recently moved

• First call the school
• If you do not get an answer, call transportation at 918-833-8100  
• Note: buses may run 10 minutes after the posted stop time

• Note:  There is a 3-5 day processing window for all new applications.

TPS students in grades 9-12 can ride Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority buses for free any day of the week. Students must present a valid TPS student I.D. Check times using the MTTA Trip Planner at www.tulsatransit.org.
